Time: The Festival opens at 1430. No-one will be allowed to enter until this time. The Festival closes at 2300 promptly, all music will stop and all visitors will be asked to leave.
Place/Directions: Rowdeford School, Rowde, Devizes, Wiltshire SN10 2QQ is off the A342 between Chippenham and Devizes.
Public Transport: The number 33 bus runs between Devizes and Chippenham through Rowde. There is a bus stop right outside Rowdeford School. Buses run approximately once an hour. The last bus leaves Rowde at approximately 1830.
Shuttle buses: Exclusive shuttle buses will run between Calne (outside Strand Hotel), Chippenham (Bus Station) and Devizes (Market Place) and the Festival. Just turn up and get on the bus. Buses will cost a bargain £2 collected on the way in – FREE return (we know you will have run out of cash by then!)
Parking: Free parking is at Rowdeford School. This includes a Drop Off zone for drivers not wishing to stay.
Big Parties: If you are bringing your own coach load of people, please let us know so that we can reserve an appropriate size space for you. (elizabethfrearson@hotmail.co.uk)
The Festival Site: This is an outdoor festival in the grounds of Rowdeford School. The terrain varies between tarmac paths, short grass and ground that is wet, muddy and uneven. Wellies are a good idea and in the true spirit of festivalling. Wheelchair access is available to all parts of the site although the wooded area and tracks across grass may be hard going for carers pushing wheelchairs.
Medical Services: St John Ambulance paramedics, first aiders and an ambulance will be in attendance.
Welfare: Everyone just wants to have a good time so hopefully everyone will act accordingly. However, there is a Welfare Tent for anyone in need of help. The Welfare Tent will also act as a Meeting Point for people who lose their friends.
Toilets: Portable toilets will be provided including four designed for disabled use. Please do not use the rest of the grounds as toilets – it is just wrong!
What you will need Money for: Free stuff is: Music, music workshops and eco activities. Money will be needed for: shuttle buses (£2), silent disco headphone refundable deposit (£10 note), food and drink, trade stands, holistic therapies, festival amusements.
Identification: All visitors will be required to complete their details on the reverse of a ticket so that they can be identified from their wristband number. It is important that everyone provides the Organisers with correct telephone numbers as they will be used in the event of an emergency especially if someone is unconscious or incapable. Note that minors cannot receive hospital treatment without the say so of a responsible adult so this is absolutely vital for everyone’s safety.
Security: All bags, coat pockets etcetera will be searched by SIA registered security officers on entry and any of the following items will be confiscated and thrown away:
- Alcohol, glass bottles, drinks cans.
Only soft drinks in unopened plastic bottles may be brought in.
- Knives, spray cans, candles, markers, fireworks, smoke canisters, poles or banners and any item which is considered to be a risk to the safety and enjoyment of visitors.
Wristbands: All visitors will be issued with a wristband on entry. Anyone found not wearing a valid wristband will be escorted off the premises.
Leaving the Site: On leaving the site before 2300, your wristband will be removed. There will be no re-entry except on the say so of the Organiser and the production of a pass out.
The Organisers reserve the right to make random searches during the event.
If you Need Help or Need to Report a Problem: Contact a Steward, a uniformed Security officer, come to the Organiser’s office or the Welfare Tent. The Organiser’s telephone number is 07814 372747.
In an Emergency: Make your way to the place of safety marked on the map in the Programme. Follow the Directions of the Stewards.
Keeping it Green: We are raising money for an eco project that will be happening in these very grounds so please look after the place and make your contribution to keeping it green. Please put all litter in the recycling bins provided. Notify a steward of any “spillages” that need attention.
Alcohol: This is an alcohol free event. No alcohol can be brought in to the event and there is no alcohol on sale within the event. Anyone who is found drinking alcohol or appears to be under the influence of alcohol will be asked to leave. If you turn up and we think you are inebriated you won’t get in.
Smoking: Rowdeford School is a no smoking site however there is a designated Smoking Area for anyone who is desperate. Please only smoke in the designated area and be careful to extinguish smoking materials and place butts in the bin provided.
Zero Tolerance to Taking Drugs: If we believe that you may be taking drugs or appear to have taken drugs, you will be asked to leave.
Dogs: Strictly no dogs (or indeed any other pets!) except service dogs.
Nuts: The Organiser’s cannot guarantee that nuts will not be sold or in the food provided by trade stands. Any allergies should be noted on the back of the ticket.
Baby Changing: The Welfare Tent will also provide a place for baby changing.
AND A FINAL WORD: This is year one of a new Festival. There won’t be a Year two if you screw up!
